Day 01: Arrival in Arusha

You will be warmly welcomed and picked up at the airport, then driven to your comfortable accommodation in Arusha.

If your arrival time allows, you can relax and enjoy the peaceful surroundings as you prepare for the adventure ahead an unforgettable safari through some of Tanzania’s most beautiful parks.

Arusha is a lively and colorful town, full of life and culture, making it the perfect place to begin your journey into the wild heart of northern Tanzania.

Day 02: Tarangire National Park

You will be picked up from your hotel by your friendly safari guide to begin your exciting journey to Tarangire National Park, the first destination on your safari adventure.

As you travel, enjoy a scenic drive through the beautiful countryside while your guide shares fascinating stories about Arusha’s history and the vibrant Maasai culture. This provides a wonderful introduction to life in northern Tanzania.

Upon arrival at Tarangire, you will begin exploring this stunning park, famous for its vast open landscapes, seasonal swamps, and impressive herds of elephants. With some luck, you may also spot lions, leopards, or even cheetahs roaming freely. The park is also known for its massive and ancient baobab trees, creating a truly unique and memorable setting.

During your game drive, you will pause for a hot lunch surrounded by the park’s natural beauty. Afterward, continue your afternoon game drive, observing the increasing wildlife activity as the day cools.

In the late afternoon, you will leave the park and proceed to your lodge in Karatu or Mto wa Mbu, where you can unwind, enjoy dinner, and rest comfortably for the night.

Day 03:

Serengeti National Park

After breakfast, you will journey toward the fertile highlands, where the Iraqw people cultivate wheat, coffee, and maize. As you pass through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, take in the stunning views of the iconic Ngorongoro Crater before continuing onward to the Serengeti National Park, arriving around midday.

The Serengeti is Tanzania’s largest national park, renowned for its varied landscapes, which include vast grassy plains, swamps, lakes, savannahs, and rugged mountains. It is famous for the spectacular annual migration of wildebeest and zebras, where thousands of animals traverse the park in search of fresh grazing and water—a breathtaking natural phenomenon depending on the season.

Following an extensive game drive exploring this remarkable wilderness, you will stay overnight at a lodge or tented camp inside the Serengeti, where you can relax and enjoy the wild surroundings.

Day 04:

Serengeti National Park

You will spend the day exploring the vast plains of Serengeti National Park on game drives. The park is rich in wildlife, with animals such as impalas, buffaloes, crocodiles, and hippos commonly seen. It’s also one of the best places in Africa to spot predators like lions, leopards, and cheetahs in their natural habitat. If the Great Migration is taking place in another part of the park, your guide may drive you there to witness this incredible event  a truly unforgettable experience. After the game drive, you will drive to Karatu, a charming town near the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, where you will spend the night at a comfortable lodge and prepare for the next day’s adventure.

Day 05:

Ngorongoro Crater

After breakfast, you will set off for a full-day adventure in the Ngorongoro Crater, one of Africa’s most iconic wildlife destinations. Often referred to as the “Garden of Eden,” this natural wonder is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and home to an incredible concentration of wildlife.

As you descend into the crater, you'll enter a truly unique ecosystem where you may encounter the Big Five—lions, elephants, rhinos, buffalo, and leopards along with a wide range of other species such as wildebeest, zebras, gazelles, and a variety of birdlife.

Your knowledgeable guide will help you spot animals and share fascinating insights into the crater's geology and the way it sustains such rich biodiversity in a relatively small area. The scenery is equally breathtaking, with sweeping grasslands, patches of forest, and a central soda lake that often attracts flocks of flamingos.

After the game drive, you will return to your lodge, where you can relax, enjoy dinner, and unwind for the evening, surrounded by the peaceful atmosphere of the highlands.

Day 06: Departure 

After breakfast at your lodge in Karatu, you will start your drive back to Arusha. On the way, you can enjoy the beautiful views and take time to relax. If your flight is later in the day, there may be a chance to stop for lunch or do some shopping. Once in Arusha, your guide will take you to the airport or your hotel. This marks the end of your safari.

Package Notes

You should be aware that this is wild nature, so the guide cannot make any guarantees on the presence of specific wild animals, but you can be sure he will do his best to find everything you're looking for! The Zanki team has its radio channel that the drivers use to communicate with other guides and collaborate on searches for rare species. Take into consideration that to see certain animals you will have to start your day early in the morning, and it may be cold outside, so you should not forget to pack some warm clothes. For example, in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area before and after sunset the temperature can fall to 0°C.
