Terms and Conditions

Before making a booking, it is essential that you read our terms and conditions. They set out the commercial relationship between us, from the basis of your contract with ZANKI TOURS AND SAFARIS and set out both your and our respective rights and obligations.

1. BOOKINGS

The booking process begins with your email or phone call to our offices. Bookings shall be considered confirmed only when the booking is accompanied by a deposit valued at 30% of the tour price. The remaining 70% must be paid 30 DAYS before the tour begins. If the booking is made within 30 days of the tour start date, full payment is required at the time of booking. At the time of booking, we require full details for all passengers (names must be as they appear in passports). After booking you will receive a confirmation invoice with important information relevant to your safari, inclusive of the total payment due. You must check the details carefully and notify us immediately if you believe that any of the details are incorrect.

2. PAYMENT

All payments must be made by credit card or via bank wire transfer. Payments are normally cleared within five business days. Cash and travelers’ cheques are not accepted. If you fail to make the payments on or before the due date, your booking will be cancelled and you will forfeit the relevant deposit paid in terms of clause 1 above. Please note that all transaction-related charges applicable to your payments must be covered by you. All banking commissions for both sender and receiver must be covered by you when using wire transfers. A 3.5% surcharge shall be applicable to all credit card payments. If the deposit and final payments made to our accounts are for any reason incomplete, we shall charge you for the missing amount upon your arrival in Tanzania.

3. CANCELLATIONS AND REFUNDS

  • a. Cancellation by Zanki Tours and Safaris

In the unlikely event that Zanki Tours and Safaris has to cancel a tour or a service for any reason, we will try to offer the choice of an alternative arrangement; otherwise you will receive a full refund. We will do our utmost to inform you about any cancellations at the earliest possible convenience and at the latest 14 days before the commencement of the tour. The tour may also be cancelled due to circumstances beyond our control and which neither our partners nor we could have foreseen (force majeure). In such cases customers will be refunded the price of the trip but will not be able to claim any extra expenses. Should one of the aforementioned emergency situations arise Zanki Tours and Safaris will always try to offer an acceptable alternative to the customer.

  • b. Cancellation Policy by Client

Cancellations are only effective on receipt of written notification. Any notification by telephone must also be followed up in writing before it can be accepted. Cancellation will take effect from the day written confirmation is received by us. A cancellation invoice will be sent within 7 days. If you do not receive this, please contact us immediately in order to prevent an increase in charges. The payment of bank fees for credit card payments and/or bank transfers are the responsibility of the customer and are strictly non-refundable.

In order to cover our estimated loss caused by your cancellation, cancellation fees will be charged per person as follows:

Days Prior to Departure Date: % of total safari cost to pay
31 days or more Loss of deposit
30-15 days 50% of total safari cost
15-7 days 75% of total safari cost
Less than 7 days 100% of total safari cost

4. CHANGES IN PRICES

In accordance with legislation, tour operators may raise the agreed-upon price as a result of increased transportation costs (including increased fuel prices), altered taxes, tariffs and fees, as well as fluctuating exchange rates. Unfortunately, many sudden price increases occur as a result of fuel surcharges, and increased taxes and tariffs. Price increases will take place according to the following principles: All prices are based on costs at the time of publication, Zanki Tours and Safari reserves the right to change the prices at any time before your booking is made. Zanki Tours and Safari will confirm price changes, if any, together with the confirmation of your booking. Some service prices, such as (but not limited to) park fees, government levies and airport taxes are not in the control of Zanki Tours and Safari. In the event of these prices being changed at any date Zanki Tours and Safari will charge the supplement to the client at cost.

5. CHANGES IN THE ITINERARY

In accordance with legislation, the travel agency cannot make major alterations in the planned tour once it has been booked. It is therefore very important that you make clear any special requirements or wishes you may have in connection with the tour you have booked (e.g. the provision of vegetarian food, a hotel with a tennis court, golf course, etc.). Any extra requirements or wishes must be listed on the invoice with the purpose being to ensure you receive the desired product. On many of our more ‘adventurous’ tours we may institute last minute changes in order to take advantage of local and climatic conditions, as well as to take into account other events. Changes due to weather and problems with infrastructure may also occur and the traveller must see this as a natural part of the trip. Therefore, no compensation will be paid for delays and changes that take place within any 24 hour duration during the tour.

6. LIABILITY

Zanki Tours and Safaris, its agents and sub-contractors act only as the passenger's agents in matters relating the tours, itineraries, hotel accommodation, transportation etc., and shall not in any way be liable for injury, death, illness, delays, subsequent missing of ship, air or train connection, inconveniences arising from unannounced alteration of ship, air or train schedules, weather conditions, loss or damage to personal property whether resulting from but not limited to force majeure or acts of God, civil unrest or revolt, acts of war, strikes or other labor activities, animals, any criminal or terrorist activities. 7. WILD ANIMALS

Please be aware that these safaris may take you into close contact with wild animals. Attacks by wild animals are rare, but no safari into the African wilderness can guarantee that this will not occur. Neither Zanki Tours and Safaris, nor their employees, can be held responsible for any injury or incident on the safari. Please note that most safari camps in Africa are not fenced.

8. AMENDMENTS BY ZANKI

Zanki Tours and Safaris reserves the right to update and/or alter these Terms and Conditions at any time, and shall post the amended Terms and Conditions on Zanki Tours and Safaris Website. Any such amendment shall take effect 10 days following their posting to the Website. 9. TRAVEL INSURANCE

It is a condition of booking one of our tours that the traveler is adequately insured for the full duration of the tour in respect of illness, injury, death, loss of baggage and personal items, cancellation and curtailment. The choice of insurer is the sole discretion of the client. We may disqualify you from taking part in our adventure without any refunds if you do not have a proper insurance package.

10. REFUNDS

Whilst the Company uses its best endeavors to ensure that all anticipated accommodation is available as planned, there shall be no claim of any nature whatsoever against the Company for a refund either in the whole or part, if any accommodation or excursion is unavailable and a reasonable alternative is not found. If the guest is unable to use any service provided in the itinerary, then there are no refunds due.

11. FORCE MAJEURE

We regret we cannot compensate where the proper performance of our duty is affected by any incident which we or the supplier of the service(s) in question could not, even with all due care, anticipate or avoid. Such events may include war, terrorist activity, unexpected government acts, riots, civil strife, natural disaster, border closures, industrial disputes, fire, road closures, pilferage, epidemics, quarantines, land and air travel, extreme weather conditions and other similar incidents beyond our capability to manage.

12. IMAGES AND MARKETING

You understand that we agree that our employees and other tour participants may take photos, videos, and other media images during our tours. These photos and videos may have your image. By taking part in our adventures you agree that we and our partners may use this media material for marketing, promotion, and advertising without any royalty and other payments to you. Please inform our staff if you do not want your image to be captured with any photo or video cameras.

13. COMPLAINTS

If you have a problem during your holiday, please inform the relevant organizer (camp/hotel manager/Safari provider) immediately and he will endeavor to put things right. If your problem cannot be resolved locally you must send full details to Zanki Tours and Safaris in writing within 28 days of your return to your country. If you fail to follow this procedure, we will not accept liability as we have been deprived of the opportunity to investigate and rectify the problem.
