Day 02: Tarangire To Lake Natron
On this day, your guide will pick you up at the lodge after breakfast to begin a scenic road trip through northern Tanzania, heading toward the remote and striking landscapes of Lake Natron. You’ll embark on a drive north that takes around 4 hours, offering a great opportunity to experience Tanzania’s varied and changing scenery.
As you leave the greener areas behind and enter the Great Rift Valley, you will notice the landscape gradually transform—lush vegetation gives way to dry, dusty plains and rugged hills. Along the way, you’ll pass by scattered Maasai villages, with traditional homes appearing as small dots across the wide-open land.
The northern region is framed by the remains of ancient volcanoes, including the famous Ol Doinyo Lengai, or “Mountain of God” in the Maasai language. This volcano is still active, and if you’re lucky, you might see smoke rising from its summit.
When you arrive at Lake Natron, you will spend the night there, surrounded by raw and unique beauty, where you can unwind and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere.

Day 03: Lake Natron and Departure
This morning, you will join a Maasai guide for a stroll along the shores of Lake Natron in search of the striking lesser flamingo. Lake Natron is East Africa’s most important and consistent breeding ground for these beautiful birds. During the breeding season, which runs mainly from September to April with a peak between October and early December, the lake can host up to 2.5 million flamingos.
While the long-legged flamingos thrive here, the harsh conditions of the lake make it difficult for many other animals to survive. Still, the alkaline flats provide a unique habitat that supports a variety of bird species specially adapted to this environment.
Afterward, you will start your journey to the airport, carrying unforgettable memories and countless photographs from this incredible African safari.
